Green Garden Gate

The garden with its little gate of green,
Invites you to enter, and view mysteries unseen,
Its vine laden bowers and overhanging trees,
The air filled with sweetness, the hum of the bees,
The flagged walks with Iris galore,
Of most beautiful coloring, unknown before,
Pink, white, purple, yellow, azure blue,
Mixed and mingled of every hue,
You come away wondering, can more beauty be seen
Than in the garden with its little gate of green.

I remember as a child my mother and father could not agree about the life of our iris. It was my father who tended the beds, dividing and replanting, enjoying the beauty of bed full of blossoms across the front of our house.  It was my mother that took the shears outside to cut these lovely flowers so she could enjoy their beauty and fragrance indoors. Who was right I ask myself? Should I cut them and enjoy them up close all day, or should I leave them in their beds inviting me to come outside and drink in their beauty? I think my father was right.............

Spring Roses

Spring has to be my favorite time of year. I eagerly watch the rose bushes send forth their long canes producing fresh, green leaves and then on their tips, buds begin to form. Each sunny day causes the buds to swell. Soon they will open and their fragrance will fill the air. The Victorians loved flowers, each had a meaning and they were used in so many designs. This button was hand carved from mother of pearl for a very special occasion which is lost to history, but I have given it a new life it to become part of someone special occasion. Paired with faceted mother of pearl beads and gold accents, this necklace is just waiting to be placed on a bride's neck, once again being part of a special day.
Necklace set includes a pair of matching beaded earring and can custom fitted.

Ring around the rosies

Spring bursts forth every year overwhelming the senses. What were dry branches,  lush pink blossoms appear, iris push up from the soil with delicate petals, roses oh roses, budding out waiting to fill the air with the fragrance of heaven.  Birds, butterflies and flowers were among some of the favorite themes for the stamped brass buttons for women and children's wear which came into vogue in the late 1860's & produced until the turn of the century. It's the design and craftsmanship of these buttons that inspire me to create these unique pieces of jewelry.
